BENGALURU: Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport intercepted Mohammed Zainulabdin, a passenger arriving from Bangkok on flight 6E-1056. The detection method, a combination of spot profiling and meticulous baggage scanning, led to the discovery of a sophisticated smuggling attempt.
Upon closer inspection, officials uncovered Zainulabdin’s elaborate modus operandi.“He had ingeniously concealed cylindrical gold rods inside hollow metallic pipes, discreetly fitted within the components of a printer. This concealed the contraband effectively during routine checks,” said Custom sources.
The seized items included 2 full-length rods and one cut piece, totaling a substantial 1273.12 grams in net weight. The monetary value of this haul was estimated to be a staggering Rs. 87,90,894/-.
Authorities swiftly apprehended Zainulabdin, and he is currently under custody. The investigation into this smuggling operation is ongoing as officials delve deeper into the intricacies of the illicit trade network.
