NEW DELHI: After the day’s programmes in Kashi, which included the programme to hand over Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ganga Aarti and prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a surprise visit to review the work underway to build a stadium and sports complex in Varanasi.
Once ready, it will cater to the needs of the youth and further enhance a sporting culture in Varanasi.
After the visit, PM Modi tweeted, “Reviewed the progress at the Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Kashi. This stadium and sports complex will greatly help the youth of Kashi.”

Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi performed prayers and pooja at Kashi Vishwanath temple. It was also the 101st birth anniversary of PM’s mother, Heeraba.
Before visiting the temple, Modi addressed a PM Kisan Samman Sammelan at Mehndiganj and participated in the Ganga aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.
PM Modi will stay at the Banaras Railway Engine Factory’s guesthouse for the night, officials said.
