She cited examples of sportspersons like Deepa Malik, Arunima Sinha and Avani Lekhara and social workers like K S Rajanna and said all such people were examples of the fact that with dedication and determination, one could overcome every kind of physical limitation.
Meanwhile, as Rashtrapati Bhawan shared photos of Murmu inaugurating Mitti cafe and celebrating her special day with the cheerful staff at the Cafe, a post from the official handle of the President of India on X described the opening of the cafe as “another step towards creating an inclusive environment” by the President.
“Mitti cafe is a movement towards an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute. The non-profit organisation is creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities and creating awareness about disability through cafes, community meals and skill development,” it was stated in the post. The Cafe provides employment and experiential training to adults with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities.
Interestingly, according to Mitti cafe director and chief operating officer Swati Dokania, last year on November 26 observed as Constitution Day, Murmu had visited their cafe in the court complex with Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
