Pro-Palestine supporters climb roof of Australia’s Parliament House – Times of India

Pro-Palestine supporters climbed up the roof of Australia’s Parliament House on Thursday. According to the CCTV footage, four people wearing dark clothes unfurled black banners and chanted ‘Free Palestine’ slogans.
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” was written on one of their banners. One of the protestors also gave a speech using a microphone and accused the Israeli government of war crimes.“ We will not forget, we will not forgive and we will continue to resist”, the protestor said.
Highlighting the graveness of the situation, opposition home affairs spokesperson James Paterson took the matter to social media platform X and wrote, “This is a serious breach of the Parliament’s security. The building was modified at great expense to prevent incursions like this. An investigation is required.”
All of these pro-Palestine protests gained ground around the world after Israel started retaliatory action against Hamas and launched strikes in the Gaza Strip in which nearly 38,000 have been killed, as claimed by the Gaza health ministry. The infrastructure of the city also has been destroyed to the ground and converted to ruins by the Israeli military.
Israel justifies its action claiming it to be retaliation against a terrorist attack launched by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken as hostages by the Hamas.
Last month, a UN enquiry found out that both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes in the initial stages of the war.
