Protest lodged with Pakistan for insult to Bhagat Singh: Government – Times of India

MoS (MEA) Kirti Vardhan Singh

NEW DELHI: India has registered a strong protest with Pakistan over recent reports regarding objectionable remarks made against Bhagat Singh in Pakistan, MoS (MEA) Kirti Vardhan Singh told Parliament on Friday.
India has also been raising with Pakistan issues concerning attacks on cultural heritage, growing intolerance and lack of respect for minority communities in the neighbouring country, he said.
“Govt and the entire nation recognise the invaluable contribution of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in India’s freedom struggle. The death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh is observed every year in India and abroad. India’s diplomatic missions abroad also hold events to pay tributes.”
Singh was responding to a question on whether Centre was aware of the derogatory remarks made against Bhagat Singh in submissions to Lahore HC.
