NEW DELHI: The Congress on Tuesday said the 2024 Lok Sabha verdict is a mandate against Prime Minister Modi and asserted that people of country had refused to give majority to any single party. “We fought the elections under very difficult circumstances. Our bank account was frozen, our leaders were targeted,” said Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who scored impressive wins from both seats – Wayanad in Kerala and Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, said the Lok Sabha verdict was a victory of Constitution. He unleashed yet another attack on Prime Minister Modi and said “The people of country have sent out a clear message to PM Modi – ‘we do not want you’.”
Citing the crash of Adani stocks after the results, Rahul alleged that there was a relationship of corruption between the Prime Minister and businessman Gautam Adani. “This was not a fight against just a party, it was a fight against a party and the administrative structure of the country captured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah,” Rahul said.
Rahul thanked voters of UP and said, “UP ki janta ne kamaal karke dikha diya…The people of UP understood the politics of the country and the danger to the Constitution, and they safeguarded the Constitution. I thank them for supporting Congress party and INDIA.”
