Ranbir Kapoor reveals daughter Raha’s first song was Raj Kapoor’s iconic Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe: ‘It is our moral responsibility to entertain and educate’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about fatherhood, music, and environmental responsibility in a heartfelt conversation with filmmaker Rahul Rawail at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). During the event, which also honored the legendary Raj Kapoor ahead of his 100th birth anniversary, Ranbir shared a touching anecdote about his daughter Raha Kapoor and her introduction to music.
Ranbir revealed that the first song he played for Raha was his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s iconic track, Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe. Reflecting on its timeless significance, he said, “If you hear the lyrics of the song, it is so simple, and it’s definitely a great philosophy to live your life by.”
As a father, Ranbir expressed his concerns for the planet’s future and emphasized the role of cinema and artists in promoting environmental awareness. “I am a father, and I have to think of my child and what the world will be like for her after so many years. As people from cinema and as artistes, it is our moral responsibility to make films that entertain but also educate,” he said.

He further spoke about the challenges posed by misinformation, emphasizing the importance of awareness. Ranbir noted that many people struggle to distinguish between what is right and wrong, often misled by social media or deceptive headlines. Highlighting the need for greater understanding, he expressed his commitment to raising awareness not just about environmental issues, such as ocean conservation, but also broader efforts to protect the planet, which he sees as a moral responsibility.

Ranbir also announced a special Raj Kapoor Film Festival as a tribute to his grandfather. The festival will take place from December 13 to 15 across India, showcasing restored versions of 10 classic Raj Kapoor films.
“We are going to organize the Raj Kapoor Film Festival from December 13 to December 15 all over India. We will show the restored versions of 10 of Raj Kapoor’s films. I hope you guys come as well. I remember the first time I met Alia, she asked me, ‘Who’s Kishore Kumar?’ It’s just a circle of life—people are forgotten. It’s important we remember our roots,” Ranbir said.
