Social media platform Reddit is back after a brief global outage. The social media platform experienced a down time earlier today. According to Downdetector.in – the platform that tracks real-time outage of websites, Reddit was down around 12am (IST) on August 29.
According to it, almost 65% of the app users and 23% desktop users were affected by the outage.It peaked at around 1:30am. As per a Reuters report, over 152,982 incidents of outages were reported in the U.S. as of 04:09 PM ET.
The company acknowledged the outage. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), it said “Investigating: We are currently investigating this issue.”

Reddit resolves the issue
In a separate post, it informed users that the issue has been resolved. According to a Reddit status page, the services have been restored fully. According to it, the issue affected reddit.com that included Desktop Web, Mobile Web, Native Mobile Apps, Vote Processing, Comment Processing, Spam Processing, Modmail.
What caused the outage?
In a statement, the company said “”Earlier today we shipped an update that unintentionally impacted platform stability. We deployed a fix and are back up and running,”.
