NEW DELHI: Chief minister and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidate Prem Singh Tamang emerged victorious after securing 10094 votes with a margin of 7044, according to ECI.
Rhenock assembly constituency is one of the assembly constituencies out of the 32 present in Sikkim, located in the eastern district of the state. Voting in the constituency was held on April 19.This constituency holds a crucial role in the state’s political landscape, having witnessed significant electoral battles over the years.
In the 2019 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the constituency saw Bishnu Kumar Sharma from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) emerge victorious over the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) candidate Hemendra Adhikari. The vote share in the constituency was 79.76% in 2019. Total voters during the previous assembly elections in 2019 were 17,396.
In the 2014 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the constituency saw Hemendra Adhikari from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) win the elections, while Bhim Pratap Dhungel of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) came second.
The 2024 elections will see Som Nath Poudyal of SDF, P S Tamang of SKM, Kapil Prasad Sapkota of INC and Prem Chhetri of the BJP battle it out for the constituency.
