A few weeks ago, Karan Johar had remarked on how Bollywood stars charge up to Rs 40 crore but sometimes only bring in Rs 3.5 crore at the box office. Saif Ali Khan recently responded to Karan Johar’s bold comment about stars not guaranteeing box office hits, humorously interpreting it as a suggestion to cut pay cheques.
Speaking to India Today, Saif shared his views on the film industry’s economics and the complexities surrounding star salaries.Responding to Karan’s statement, Said laughed and said, “He wants to cut pay cheques. I think I should have my own union on that. I am sure he is right, but it makes me a little nervous when we hear about cutting pay cheques. No cutting pay cheques!”
Saif further acknowledged the industry’s current state, explaining that stars sometimes demand high fees, which people pay. He noted that the film industry functions like a financial center where risks are taken, adding, “But Karan Johar knows best.”
