Salim-Javed to celebrate 49 years of ‘Sholay’ with a special screening | Hindi Movie News – Times of India



The docu-series ‘Angry Young Men‘, featuring Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, has been met with a strong audience response. To celebrate its success, the duo is hosting a special screening of the classic film ‘Sholay‘ on August 31. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Hema Malini, will be exclusively be screened in Mumbai.
In an Instagram post, Javed’s daughter Zoya Akhtar, through her production house, Tiger Baby officially announced, “Celebrate the magic of Salim-Javed 50 years later.One time screening of Sholay in cinemas this Saturday 31st August!”. The motion poster features the ‘Sholay’ poster and notes that the screening will be free.
Ramesh Sippy’s classic ‘Sholay’ has aged remarkably well since its 1975 release. The film, renowned for its Western-style narrative, memorable dialogues, and compelling characters, has captivated audiences for nearly 49 years.
‘Angry Young Men’ is a three-part docuseries exploring the influential careers of Bollywood writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. It delves into how their powerful scripts and the iconic ‘Angry Young Man’ character transformed Hindi cinema in the 1970s. Featuring insights from the duo and industry figures, the series highlights their work on blockbusters like ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewaar’, and ‘Don’, and examines their lasting cultural impact.
