Sapna Choudhary opens up about her biopic and why she does not want to play herself: ‘I don’t want to revisit those days’ – Exclusive – Times of India

Sapna Choudhary has shared her thoughts on the upcoming biopic about her life and why she prefers not to play herself in the film. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, the Haryanvi dance sensation expressed her excitement about the biopic. She revealed that she felt a strong connection with the project when she met filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Vinay Bhardwaj. She appreciated their understanding of her story and vision for the film.
“It feels nice that a biopic is being made on my life although I had a lot of offers from other production houses when I met Mahesh Bhatt and Vinay Bhardwaj and the vibes that were exchanged—I could see that they understood my story and the way I wanted it to be,” Sapna told us.
Reflecting on how she wants her life to be portrayed on screen, Sapna described her journey as filled with challenges. She said, “My life has had a lot of ups and downs. People have seen me only on stage – the Sapna she has shown in front of people. But my struggle, even gunshots at me … but that didn’t stop me from being what I am today. Probably, that was the pledge I had taken that I would do what I felt like whether I got success or not that didn’t matter to me. Whether people were looking at me or not looking, I just didn’t care.”
Sapna revealed her fearless attitude towards danger, saying, “I never got scared because if something has to happen it will and nobody can stop it. I am a very happy-go-lucky person also if something had to happen it could happen at home and main toh bhagwan ke ghar se teen chaar baar vapas aa gayee.”

When discussing which aspects of her life might resonate with audiences, Sapna shared her perspective on success. She stated, “I don’t believe I have seen that kind of success as yet and that I am super talented. There is a lot that I still need to do. But I would like to tell today’s girls that success is not everything. Learn to live your life happily. Today’s youth wants instant success.”
She added, “We have been working for 18 years but we are not greedy nor worried about the audience leaving us, people not recognizing us. In fact, we stay away from that. But today’s youngsters are in a hurry to succeed.”
Sapna has also acted in films. When asked whether she would want to play herself in the biopic, she said, “I don’t want to play myself. I have come out from there I don’t want to revisit those days. Also, I don’t have anyone in mind to play my role in the biopic.”

Lastly, when asked how people reacted to her when she went up on stage to perform for the first time, she said, “I didn’t care about the outsiders and there was no reaction from my family as for me more than name and fame it was money that was most important at that time. My focus was to earn money and I had not come to make a career. Besides, I must tell you I don’t consider myself to be a professional dancer. All I do is Dil Se. For me, the stage is a temple and place of meditation.”
