Sayani Gupta recently discussed instances in her career where she felt her boundaries were compromised. While promoting Khwabon ka Jhamela, she spoke about encountering indecent behavior on set, including an actor lingering on a kiss even after the director called “cut.” She did not reveal the actor’s name or the project.
In a conversation with Radio Nasha, Sayani expressed her appreciation for India’s growing acceptance of intimacy coordinators. She shared that she first worked with one in 2013 for Margarita with a Straw.
While she noted that intimate scenes are technically easier to perform, she also recalled an unsettling experience with an actor who behaved inappropriately by lingering on a kiss even after the director called “cut.” She emphasized that such behavior, though sometimes subtle, is simply indecent.
Sayani also recalled an uncomfortable experience while shooting for the first season of Four More Shots Please in Goa. She had to lie on the beach in a small dress with around 70 people, mostly men, watching. She felt extremely vulnerable, as there was no one nearby for support, and the set lacked sufficient staff around her.
The actress expressed her desire for someone to stand next to her with a shawl during that scene, but it didn’t happen. She recalled that it was a busy shoot with 800 extras, and the staff was limited. She highlighted that in such rushed environments, safety often becomes a secondary concern. She emphasized that boundaries can be compromised, not just in intimate scenes, and this reflects a broader mindset that needs to evolve.
