SC collegium picks Madras high court judge as Chief Justice of Manipur high court | India News – Times of India


CHENNAI: The Supreme Court collegium on Monday recommended the elevation of Justice D Krishnakumar, a senior judge in Madras high court, as the Chief Justice of Manipur high court.
Justice Krishnakumar was appointed as the judge of Madras high court on April 7, 2016, and is now set to retire on May 21, 2025.
He is the senior-most puisne judge in his parent high court and belongs to a backward community.
Before his elevation as a judge of high court, he had extensive practice in civil, constitutional, and service matters, with specialisation in constitutional law.
Chief Justice of Manipur high court, Justice Siddharth Mridul, is scheduled to retire on November 21. The collegium said it has proposed to appoint Justice Krishnakumar as the chief justice of Manipur high court with effect from the date on which Justice Mridul demits office.
