NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed Himachal Pradesh to release surplus water to Delhi on June 7, with prior intimation to Haryana. The court asked Haryana to ensure the water reaches Delhi without obstruction.
Additionally, the Supreme Court asked that there should be no wastage of water by the Delhi government and sought a status report by June 10.
The top court allowed Himachal Pradesh to release 137 cusecs of surplus water available with it and directed Haryana to facilitate the flow of the surplus water from Hathnikund to Wazirabad uninterruptedly to Delhi.
Supreme court asked the Upper Yamuna River Board to measure water released by Himachal Pradesh at Hathnikund.
