PUNE: As the meteorological department has warned of heavy rain in Pune city and Ghat areas, Anganwadis, schools and colleges of all managements will remain closed in Bhor, Velha, Maval, Mulshi, Khadakwasla area, Haveli, Khed, Ambegaon, Junnar Ghat areas, Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad areas.
However, during this period, all principals, teachers and non-teaching staff should attend the school during office hours and help in disaster management according to the orders of the local administration, according to an official release from the Pune district collector and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority, Suhas Diwase issued on Thursday.
Earlier in the day the state higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil had written to the Diwase asking him to declare holiday for schools on Friday, considering the expected heavy rainfall.
As per his letter, school administrations, parents and students had to face difficulty as they did not receive the information about the school closure on Thursday on time because the announcement from the collector’s office came on Thursday morning.
