NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday shared another video showing TMC leader Tajimul Haque allegedly thrashing a couple in West Bengal.
BJP leader and leader of opposition in Bengal state assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, posted the video on X and said, “Episode 2 of street justice. Featuring TMC Leader Tajimul alias ‘JCB’ as judge, jury & executioner.Just another day in Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal, where conventions of ‘Muslim Rashtra‘ are followed at will.”
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also posted the video and targeted the TMC-led Bengal government. “One more shocking video of Tajmul Haque’s Talibani styled insaaf approximately from 15 days ago where yet another couple were flogged. TMC MLA Hamidur Rahman justified actions of Tajmul saying the woman was characterless & in Muslim Rashtra these things happen,” he wrote on X.
Shehzad also questioned the silence of other opposition parties on the issue, saying, “Pin drop silence by INDI Alliance netas including Priyanka Vadra, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Chaturvedi, AAP etc… Meanwhile WB police will send us yet another notice threatening us.”
The authenticity of video posted by BJP leaders could not be verified.
The video comes days after a disturbing video surfaced on social media, showing a man (identified as TMC leader Tajemul) mercilessly thrashing a woman with sticks in public view. The assault, captured in the video, showed the woman being repeatedly struck until she was barely conscious and unable to resist.
The video drew condemnation from political figures including BJP’s Amit Malviya and CPI(M)’s Mohammed Salim. They criticized the safety of women under the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal.
