NEW DELHI: As a clinical Kolkata Knight Riders blew away Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Final to lift their third title, Kavya Maran, the co-owner and CEO of the Hyderabad-based franchise, was in tears after the defeat.
KKR hammered Sunrisers at the Chepauk by eight wickets in a lop-sided encounter, lifting the trophy after 10 years.
After clinching the titles in 2012 and 2014, this was KKR’s third IPL title.
Kavya, who has been known for her love for the game and animated reactions in stands, was visibly in tears after the loss but still lauded the side for their terrific effort before the finale.

Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins was left to rue his decision to bat first as his side got skittled out for 113 runs in 18.3 overs.
Andre Russell was the pick of the Kolkata bowlers, claiming 3-19 in the one-sided contest at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
His team returned to chase down the target in 10.3 overs with Venkatesh Iyer leading their charge with an unbeaten 52 off 26 balls.
Kolkata topped the group stage of the IPL and had beaten Hyderabad in the first playoff on Tuesday.
