NEW DELHI: Tanzim Hasan Sakib‘s exceptional four-wicket haul propelled Bangladesh into the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8s, following a 21-run victory over Nepal at the Arnos Vale Ground on Monday.
With this win, Bangladesh secured the final spot in the T20 World Cup Super Eights, while the Netherlands were eliminated from the tournament.

Nepal’s chase of 107 runs was far from smooth, as they stumbled to 24/4 through the Powerplay.Sundeep Jora’s dismissal in the next over left Nepal in a precarious position at five down.
However, Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee’s partnership helped steady the ship and keep the run chase within reach. Despite their efforts, Mustafizur Rahman‘s brilliant bowling in the 17th and 19th overs, along with Shakib Al Hasan‘s two wickets in two balls in the final overs, sealed the game for Bangladesh.

Earlier, Nepal’s bowlers, led by Sompal Kami and captain Rohit Paudel, exploited the favorable bowling conditions to restrict Bangladesh to 106.
Kami removed Tanzid Hasan for a golden duck in the first over, setting the tone for Bangladesh’s batting collapse. Dipendra Singh and other bowlers continued to chip away at the wickets, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 31/4 at the end of the Powerplay.

Despite the efforts of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah to stabilize the innings, a misunderstanding led to Mahmudullah’s runout, compounding Bangladesh’s troubles.
Shakib Al Hasan, the team’s last hope, fell to Paudel after scoring 17 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane claimed his 99th T20I wicket, dismissing Tanzim Hasan Sakib for 3.
Bangladesh managed to reach 106, thanks to an 18-run last-wicket partnership between Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.
