Tamil Nadu rain: Holiday declared for schools and colleges in these districts; IT companies advised to opt for WFH | Chennai News – Times of India


Many parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rain for the next few days.

CHENNAI: Schools and colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Tiruvallur districts will remain closed on Tuesday in view of the heavy rain forecast.
Chief minister M K Stalin on Monday appealed to IT firms to instruct employees to work from home between Oct 15 and 18.
Chennai city police have mobilised about 300 specially trained armed reserve police personnel around low-lying areas in the city.A temporary control room too has been formed to coordinate with GCC and fire service departments.
In anticipation of heavy rainfall predicted in several parts of Tamil Nadu for the next four days, the 108 Emergency Medical Services (EMRI) has set up a second control centre in Pudukottai. With the new centre EMRI, an agency outsourced by the state for running ambulances and medical emergency services will ensure uninterrupted emergency medical response services, especially in the event of disruptions caused by the impending downpour.
