The second edition of TOI Dialogues, the Times of India’s flagship event, took place on Tuesday in Dehradun, focusing on Uttarakhand’s socio-economic development, entrepreneurial growth, sporting achievements, and infrastructure progress.
In his special address, Acharya Balakrishna spoke about the state’s unique qualities, stating, “Uttarakhand, the land of gods, saints, and pilgrims, is a place where nature and spirituality meet in harmony. It is home to many sacred rivers, including the revered Ganges, flowing freely through our land.” He also highlighted the state’s natural beauty, its forests, and the simplicity of its people, which add to the region’s distinctive charm.
Balakrishna emphasized the role of Patanjali in promoting well-being, saying, “For those seeking prosperity, peace, and relief, the Himalayan peaks of Uttarakhand offer that very experience. Patanjali has worked towards bringing the same sense of well-being to people across the country.”
He also praised Uttarakhand as the birthplace of yoga and a land of untapped possibilities, saying, “Uttarakhand is also the birthplace of Yoga, a gift to the world, and this state is full of endless possibilities—more than we can even begin to imagine.” He added that Patanjali plays a significant role in employment generation in the region.
Addressing health concerns, Balakrishna mentioned Patanjali’s research efforts on the Mpox virus, noting that their team of over 100 scientists has been studying the virus using medicinal herbs.
He said, “I assure you, just as Tulsi and Giloy helped during the Covid-19 pandemic, Uttarakhand’s turmeric, known for its healing properties in golden milk, and Ashwagandha, are proving effective in the fight against Mpox.”
With these efforts, he expressed confidence that Uttarakhand would continue to lead the nation in health and wellness initiatives.
