NEW DELHI: The Times of India Right to Excellence Education Summit was held at the GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management in Greater Noida today, 3rd August. The summit focussed on closing the education-employment gap, emphasising the importance of young people entering the labour force with relevant skills.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the digital transformation of education, the incorporation of AI into classroom learning, and approaches to closing the skills gap.The summit also considered the potential impact of these advancements on the future of education and employment in India.
At the TOI RTE Education Summit, Kartikay Agarwal, CEO of GL Bajaj Educational Institutions, shared his personal experiences and offered valuable insights on how students can effectively transition from being learners to becoming valuable contributors in the workforce.
Responding to a question on challenges that students face during the transition, Agarwal shared insights from his own experience explaining that one of his primary challenges was adjusting to the dynamics and culture of an established institution. “The biggest challenge I faced was acclimating to the work culture,” he says. “Students transitioning from academic life to professional settings similarly struggle with adapting to new environments and becoming self-reliant, as opposed to being guided by mentors and teachers in their academic years,” he adds.
Talking about how students should prepare for this transition, Agarwal shared several measures for students to ease through the process. He suggested that students should seek practical experience alongside their academic studies. “Getting an internship at a renowned company can provide a valuable glimpse into the professional world,” he observes. Additionally, Agarwal emphasised on participating in college activities, engaging with mentors, and staying updated with current skills.
Agarwal also highlighted the importance of building essential skills such as time management, multitasking, and stress management. “Time management, multitasking, and stress management are crucial for bridging the skill gap. Students these days often neglect self-care and mental health,” he observes.
Offering a key advice to students for success, Agarwal says, “Treat your internships and jobs with the same seriousness as a close relationship.”
“Just as a relationship requires loyalty, enthusiasm, and commitment, so should your approach to internships and jobs,” he adds, emphasising that success demands dedication and passion.
