An Israeli driver was attacked and his car was torched down by local residents after he mistakenly enters into the Palestinian West Bank town of Qalandiya, situated between Ramallah and Jerusalem.
Video footage circulated on social media footage shows a group of Palestinians pursuing the vehicle and pelting it with rocks, The Times of Israel reported.
According to the report, the driver tried to escape but eventually lost control of the car, colliding with a concrete barrier close to a military checkpoint. The man sustained minor injuries before being rescued and taken to Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem.
Video evidence revealed that Palestinian assailants were responsible for setting the vehicle on fire.
The West Bank has experienced an increase in violence following the outbreak of war in Gaza, which was sparked by Hamas’ assault on southern Israel on October 7.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli forces have killed more than 530 Palestinians since the beginning of the conflict. The majority of these deaths occurred during violent demonstrations and arrest operations, which frequently lead to armed confrontations.
In the 1967 Mideast war, Israel seized control of the West Bank, Gaza, and east Jerusalem, Reuters reported.
