The various pictures flashed on the iconic structure showed the Kolkata Knight Riders squad as well as Shah Rukh Khan besides the message: “Congratulations KKR. Congratulations SRK.”
KKR had previously won the trophy in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Coincidentally, Gambhir is the mentor of the KKR team now and the frontrunner to be the Indian men’s cricket team’s new coach, replacing Rahul Dravid, whose tenure ends after the T20 World Cup in June.
