A major fire broke out on a container cargo merchant vessel approximately 102 nautical miles southwest of Goa.
Two Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships arrived from Goa, actively engaging in firefighting efforts. Visuals depicted enormous flames engulfing the container ship, with ICG ships continuously dousing the flames with water.

The ICG is conducted this operation amid challenging conditions, including bad weather and heavy rains.The Coast Guard reported that the merchant ship, traveling from Mundra to Colombo, was transporting “International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) cargo” and explosions were taking place on the vessel’s forward section.
To evaluate the situation from the air, an ICG Dornier aircraft was dispatched. The ICG ship reassured the frightened crew members of their safety.
No report on casualties or extent of damage has come out as of now.
