NEW DELHI: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia said on Monday that the party was hopeful about the Supreme Court delivering justice to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. He further said that the leadership of the party has undergone “toughest times” amid central agencies crack-down.
“We have full hope from the Supreme Court.I have also got justice from the Supreme Court,” he said in his first interview after bail.
“The leadership of Aam Aadmi Party went through the toughest times but the party workers’ leaders and the people of Delhi have shown unity, and this unity is our strength,” he added.
The apex court on Friday granted bail to Sisodia in corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged scam in Delhi liquor policy.
“The Supreme Court has said in its order that I have to appear before the CBI and ED offices every Monday and Thursday between 10 and 11 am. Today morning I first went to the CBI office and then to the ED office and met the IOs of both,” he told ANI.
“There is no demotivation. When there is a crisis people show more unity strongly. I think people had anger and resolution during these times. There was no breakaway of the party during the crisis. Delhi government worked hard for the people of Delhi during the tough times,” he added.
Sisodia, who spent 17 months in custody, was held by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023. On March 9, 2023, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the CBI’s FIR.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court, challenging a recent Delhi high court order in which a single judge dismissed his appeal against a CBI arrest.
