Currently, WhatsApp’s default chat theme changed to green colour from blue, which has been the default for many years, and people haven’t stopped criticising this change. However, the new chat themes feature, still under development, would allow iPhone users to choose from five preset colours for their chat bubbles and wallpaper. In addition to the classic green, the options may include white, blue, pink, and purple.

WABetaInfo also reports that WhatsApp has been working on a separate feature that would enable iOS users to change the app’s accent colour, affecting the appearance of in-app buttons. This customization would be limited to the same colour options as the chat themes.
While these features are not yet available to the public, their presence in the beta version suggests that Meta is actively working on enhancing WhatsApp’s customization options for iPhone users. However, it remains unclear when these features will be officially released or if they will also be made available to Android users in the future.
The introduction of chat themes and accent colour customization could help WhatsApp compete with other messaging apps, such as Telegram, which already offers a wide range of personalization options. By giving users more control over the app’s appearance, WhatsApp may be able to attract and retain users who value the ability to tailor their messaging experience to their preferences.
