Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan are among Bollywood‘s most beloved couples, often making headlines with their fun and nostalgic videos. Recently, an interview featuring the duo resurfaced on social media, where Jaya Bachchan spoke about her break from films.
In a video from a 1983 BBC interview, Jaya was asked about her time away from the industry. She jokingly said she was busy managing “three kids” at home.Amitabh quickly jumped in, adding that the three kids included their children, Abhishek and Shweta, as well as himself.
Jaya humorously explained, “I haven’t started working again yet. I’ve got three kids to take care of.” When the host curiously asked who these three were, Amitabh quipped, “Two of yours and the third is me (Do humare hai aur ek main)”
Years later, during an appearance on the second season of Koffee With Karan alongside her daughter Shweta, Jaya had another playful moment. Shweta shared how her brother, Abhishek, skillfully charms everyone by always agreeing with both parents, while she tends to get into trouble for being outspoken. Shweta Bachchan described Abhishek as smooth and diplomatic, noting that he always agrees with both their parents, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, without being confrontational.

Jaya added with a smile, “The biggest baby needs the most attention.” When Karan Johar jokingly hinted at Amitabh, Jaya nodded, smiling in agreement.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan got married on June 3, 1973. They have two children: Shweta Bachchan (born in 1974) and Abhishek Bachchan (born in 1976).
