AGARTALA: Bangladesh assistant high commission (AHC) in Agartala indefinitely suspended Tuesday its visa and consular services citing security concerns, after Monday’s protest against atrocities on Hindus escalated into violence at the diplomatic mission, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.
Protests continued in Agartala, with former Union junior minister Pratima Bhowmik leading a march Tuesday demanding the release of Iskcon’s ex-priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.
Seven men have been arrested so far and were presented in court for police remand. Police have so far identified 13 men. State govt has also taken disciplinary action against Secretariat Security Force (SSF) assistant commandant Kanti Nath Ghosh and three sub-inspectors. They were suspended for dereliction of duty .
