Kannada film ‘Martin’, featuring Dhruva Sarja, directed by AP Arjun was expected to be a major hit but has instead flopped at the box office since its release on October 11, 2024. Built on a hefty budget the film was not able to return the numbers.
Following its theatrical run, ‘Martin’ has started streaming on the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video in multiple languages (excluding Hindi) and is also available on Aha for Telugu viewers.
The film begins in Pakistan, where a man named Arjun Saxena, an IRS officer, loses his memory after being injected with drugs during his imprisonment. Later, he escapes from prison as he seeks to uncover his past.
Despite its initial hype and marketing efforts aimed at positioning it as a potential blockbuster like ‘KGF’. ‘Martin’ struggled to attract audiences, earning only about Rs 25.56 crore collections globally. The film’s performance has been particularly poor in the Hindi market, where it debuted with just Rs 20 lakh and is projected to finish with around Rs 1 crore in lifetime sales.
Critics have panned the film for its dull lacklustre storytelling, poor visual effects, and subpar performances, leading to widespread negative reviews.
The cast includes Vaibhavi Shandilya, Anveshi Jain, Sukrutha Wagle, Achyuth Kumar, and Nikitin Dheer in key roles. The film’s music was composed by Manisharma and Ravi Basrur, known for his work on the ‘KGF’ series. However, even the music did not resonate well with audiences.
