Massive search operation after gunshots in J&K’s Kathua, one terrorist neutralised | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Following reports of gunshots and suspicious movements, a massive search operation was initiated for the attackers in a forest area in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kathua district on Tuesday, officials reported.
The suspicious activity was observed in Seda Sohal village within the Hiranagar sector around 7.45 pm.
Later, Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh revealed the details of the attack on X (formerly Twitter) and posted that he’s “in continuous online contact with DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas in the wake of terrorist attack on a house in village Saida in Hiranagar sector close to the International Border.”
“I am also in touch with SSP Kathua Anayat Ali Choudhary who is on the spot.The owner of the house that was attacked (name not to be disclosed) is also in touch on mobile phone. Joint police & para military operation is going on. One terrorist neutralised so far. I and my office are in constant touch and keeping a close watch on the developments,” stated the Union minister.

According to the officials, several gunshots were heard, likely fired by the suspects as they fled into the nearby forest after locals raised an alarm.
Upon receiving the information, police and other security forces promptly arrived at the scene and commenced a large-scale search operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
