Veteran actress Zarina Wahab recently addressed speculations surrounding her daughter Sana Pancholi’s brief encounter with the film industry. During an interview with Lehren Retro, Zarina candidly revealed that acting was never Sana’s aspiration and that Kangana Ranaut eventually replaced her in her debut film.
Zarina shared that the idea of Sana pursuing acting was more of a familial suggestion than her own interest. “That was not her cup of tea. She never wanted to be an actress. Like how families sometimes insist, ‘Do it, beta,’ but she was firm about her decision. She would say, ‘No, Mumma, I don’t want to do this,’” Zarina recalled.
Explaining further, Zarina narrated an incident where Sana’s discomfort with certain industry norms became evident. She said, “Sana doesn’t wear sleeveless tops or other revealing outfits. Once, she was given a low-neck outfit to wear, and she came running back, refusing to even step out of her room.”
The actress disclosed that when it became clear Sana wasn’t interested, the production team cast someone else, which happened to be Kangana Ranaut. Zarina emphasized that Sana has since moved on from that phase, and the topic is never brought up, even in jest. “We never talk about it now, not even in a joking way. She has no regrets because she simply doesn’t want to be an actress,” she concluded.
